The equipment represents a new concept in thin section preparation and is patented worldwide. The system uses cup wheels with diamonds embedded in metal. Problems such as pitting and penetration of grains by abrasive powder into pore spaces filled with epoxy are eliminated. The machine has been developed by Artech in Oslo, Norway and is produced on license from Norsk Hydro ASA.
