ResLab - Norway Locations

Norway is the hub of ResLab’s laboratory testing capability. The Trondheim headquarters laboratory was expanded in 1992 with the development of the Stavanger facilities. The laboratory services at both domestic locations continue to flourish, both within the high-tech Norwegian oil & gas sector and also in the ever-expanding international market for our services.

Products and Services from the Norwegian Laboratories

A comprehensive suite of laboratory products and services is supplied from our Norwegian laboratories. Specific brochures and detailed price lists in each of the business areas outlined below are available upon request:

Offshore services and equipment

ResLab has always been at the forefront of research and development for offshore services and equipment. Our Gypsum Core Protection method and our Core Transportation System have set new standards for the quality of core protection at the wellsite, particularly with unconsolidated sediments.

More recently, ResLab Sampling A.S. has developed a reservoir fluid sampling and analytical capability at the wellsite. Several fully equipped offshore units are now available for our clients, as the demand for this service has grown.

ResLab will continue to develop our wellsite capabilities, as client expectation for real-time or near real-time data becomes more widespread. We look forward to wider application of the range of our offshore services over the coming years.

Laboratory Equipment Manufacture

Our in-house capability of developing and manufacturing laboratory testing equipment gives us the ability to tackle the most complex reservoir questions for our clients. This is indeed one of our principal competitive advantages, as we develop more sophiosticated analytical methods and improved Core Analysis equipment from our research laboratories in Norway. We can offer our clients complete quality assurance at our laboratories, due to our intimate knowledge of the testing equipment that we manufacture and deploy.

Conventional Core Analysis

ResLab is renowned for it’s tailored approach to laboratory testing across the whole spectrum of our services. Since 1986, our vast experience of conventional core analysis programs around the world has demonstrated the benefits of close liaison with our clients, particular attention to detail during testing and the provision of analytical flexibility at our domestic and international laboratory facilities.

Special Core Analysis

ResLab has a unique range of testing capability in the areas of Petrophysics, Capillary Pressure, Wettability and Relative Permeability. Our experience ensures that SCALs programmes are designed to maximise value for our clients. Similarly, during the data integration and modelling phase of the work programme, ResLab is on hand to make sure that the SCAL data generated is used to its full potential.

Advanced Reservoir Studies

Today, ResLab has probably the highest capacity commercial laboratory for performance of reservoir condition studies. Our equipment design and manufacture allows all of our reservoir condition rigs to be highly flexible and adaptable. These systems are continually being assessed to ascertain areas of improvement, in order to provide the most accurate reservoir conditions data possible.

Formation Damage Studies

We adopt a multidisciplinary approach within Formation Damage, utilising geologists, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers to provide a complete service from test design and construction, to damage mechanism identification and interpretation.

Rock Mechanics

Linking rock mechanics and core analysis puts ResLab in a unique position as a service supplier. This relates the parameters affecting underground stresses, rock deformation and reservoir performance. The integrated data is crucial for well and reservoir engineering, providing our clients with further information to optimise their present and future production operations.

PVT Analysis

The trend away from outright exploration orientated new ventures, towards a preference for EOR production ventures within the E & P companies brings added importance to the analysis of reservoir fluids within the service sector. In 1999, ResLab established our world-class PVT laboratory in anticipation of increasing demand for fluid analysis. The PVT laboratory is now complimented with our offshore sampling capability, providing our clients with a comprehensive reservoir fluids service.

Reservoir Fluid Sampling

Again driven by client demand, ResLab has made a recent investment in additional offshore equipment, to sample and analyse reservoir fluids at the wellsite. ResLab Sampling A.S. offers a comprehensive range of fluid sampling and wellsite analysis services to the international oil and gas industry.

Storage Services

ResLab has pioneered the commercial development of high capacity storage services for the E & P companies from its facilities in Norway. Within the ResLab storage facility in Stavanger, alone, we handle and store more than 250,000 meters of core for the E & P companies on a day-to-day basis. We have already exported these storage services to the Middle East and Latin America in recent years and we will continue to commit to servicing international markets locally, according to requests from our clients.

Consulting Services

Historically, ResLab has principally been a provider of laboratory test data to the oil & gas industry. The trend of outsourcing by our clients has driven our business into the consulting area, where we can ensure that our clients gain maximum value from the new range of rock and fluid test data that we generate today. We are committed to enhancing our consultancy capability going forward, as we look to providing a comprehensive reservoir description service.

Research & Development – A Fundamental of ResLab Success

A dynamic R & D culture at ResLab is absolutely crucial for the continued health of the company. Research is ongoing within all disciplines across the ResLab Group, as our staff is encouraged to be innovative in their approach to testing procedures. Testing innovations and ideas are strongly supported by our in-house ability to produce equipment to newly required specifications.

Quality Assurance

Reservoir Laboratories A.S. is accredited with the Quality Management System Standard, NS-EN ISO 9001 : 2000, across the full range of our products and services in Norway. ResLab conforms to such exacting standards at each of the international laboratories that we deploy, in addition to any relevant local standards and regulations that may apply. We therefore assure our clients that the Standard Operating Procedures for data generation, the Laboratory Management Systems and all aspects of Health Safety & the Environment receive continual quality checking at each of our laboratory facilities around the world.
